He’s Here & Strong!

I am so very pleased to announce that Baby Boy has made his grand entrance into this crazy world. In fact he’s been here for almost a week.

Rhys (pronounced Reese) Avery Serrano was born on August 15, 2012 at 3:08am, weighing in at 9lbs 7oz and measuring 19 1/2 inches long.

Rhys has been under observation since birth in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at CHOP in Philly. He has been doing really well, showing his heart condition who is boss. Making me one proud mama & his daddy too. We’ve been by his side every step of the way. Rooting him on with every milestone he achieves.

He had a bout of jaundice & was placed under the lights for a few days. It hasn’t totally cleared, but his levels are a whole lot better. His appetite has really opened up, helping him gain some of the weight he initially lost & also getting his liver working regularly.

He will not require surgery, as the narrowing in his aorta is minimal and his ductus is closing just perfectly. Rhys has in essence healed himself. Of course with the help of many prayers and well wishes.

This past week has been a roller coaster of emotions. Rob & I truly appreciate all of the phone calls, text messages, emails, Facebook posts that we received. The overwhelming support we received was phenomenal. So thank you everyone. And I apologize if I didn’t update sooner, I hadn’t the energy to log on. Today, I feel lighter & happier and knew it was time. Plus good thing for my iPhone & the WordPress app. I expect we will hear the words “You’re going home” real soon. And look forward in sharing this with you.
