Seven Months

Yes, it’s been roughly seven months since I’ve showed my face around these parts.  I can’t believe it’s been that long.

A lot has changed in these past 7 months, from our location to employment to school and much more.  There’s so much to fill you in on. I’ll definitely get to it, little by little.

In the mean time, I wanted to share with you a fun craft I whipped up last week.  Can you guess what it is?  If you’ve been reading for sometime, chances are you know how obsessed I am with wreaths.  I love making one for the month’s theme. And since we’re celebrating LOVE this month, I knew I wanted to spread some throughout my home & front door.

While organizing my craft closet, I came across some burlap, which I forgot I had. I grabbed one of the many wreaths, I’ve picked up from the Dollar Tree, and began wrapping the burlap around the wreath.  Following that I went rummaging through the rest of my stash and found red ric rac, along with some cute Valentine themed fabric.

Burlap Valentine's Day Wreath

With the fabric and ric rac I created a cluster of flowers, which included yo-yos and kanzashi.  From there I created a pennant banner from the burlap and fabric.

Here’s a close-up of the cluster. I just love how the kanzashi flower came out.  I have a strong feeling I’ll be making more of them. I envision some cute headbands for my daughter.  And there you have this month’s front door happiness.

Come back for a visit this week, I expect to be back.

That about covers it.  Have you pinned anything worth sharing as of late?

The Great Pinterest Affair

I have a secret to share and I’m totally hoping I can trust you.  Come closer so I can clue you in.  A little closer.

Ready?  Ok here it is….

I’m totally HEAD-OVER-HEELS in LOVE with Pinterest!  Yes, you read right.  I absolutely adore it.

I can’t seem to get enough.  It really is my vice.  At this point in time I have 54 boards and over 1900 pins.  Crazy, I know.  I can get lost for hours, just perusing and pinning away.  The hubs recently told me that he’s convinced I’m having an affair with the site.  I countered with, “My obsession is equivalent to yours with the Yankees, so we’re even.”  I may have even gone so far as to sticking out my tongue and saying “Na-na-na-na.”  Real mature! tee hee

Anyhoo, he got me thinking.  Since I love to share and have this great lil space in the blogging world; why not share with my sweet readers all the goodies I’ve pinned.  Original thought? Not so much. But fun nevertheless.

Sooooo, I’d like to welcome you to

where every Friday, I’ll share with you my favorite pins.  And if I’ve gotten a chance to re-create the pin, I’ll share that too.

And without further ado,

IKEA Kiddie Table Hack

At a recent trip to IKEA, we picked up this super cute & super cheap table for Gordita.  For $20, I knew this little table had some great potential.  It would be the perfect match to her in progress DIY kitchen (post to come).

Image via IKEA

It’s blank slate prompted me to pick up some paint and stencils, to jazz it up.  I opted for a pretty lilac / purple color for the base, being that it’s my favorite color and it seems that Ravyn likes it too.  I also decided to mess around with some chalk spray paint.  One of those products that I’ve been itching to use.  And being that Gordita has an affinity with crayons, more specifically putting those crayons on places other than paper.  Yes, I have a little Picasso on my hands.  The door leading to the garage can attest.  I’m hoping the chalkboard will appease my budding artist.

After adding two coats of paint and letting it dry, I stenciled butterflies (another favorite of mine) on the chairs.  And created my own paper stencil for the letter R and added it to the center of the table.  I first thought to really add a ton of embellishments to the table, but after adding the butterflies there was something simple and sweet about how the table looked, that I left it as is.

Here are the kiddos enjoying Gordita’s new & improved table.  Seems that she even recognized and appreciated the R on the table.

So, what have you spified up using a little paint and creativity?
